About our church
A community of believers
Toulminville-Warren Street United Methodist Church is a community of believers who worship God through welcoming everyone, studying and applying God’s Word, working in the community and witnessing to the world.

What we are here for
Four things, and we mean all four: welcoming everyone who walks in, studying and applying God’s Word, working in the community around us, and witnessing to the world beyond it.
We are a United Methodist congregation in the Toulminville neighborhood of Mobile. Worship is Sunday morning at 10:00 in the sanctuary on Saint Stephens Road.
Two churches, one congregation
Warren Street Methodist Church was founded in 1889 and became a cornerstone of Mobile’s African American community. Toulminville Methodist Church was founded in 1904, in a neighborhood that would change a great deal around it.
In 1966, at the height of the civil rights movement, the two congregations became one — among the earliest interracial church mergers in Alabama, and two years before the denomination settled the question for itself at the 1968 General Conference.
That is not a story we keep in a cabinet. It is why “welcoming everyone” is the first of the four things above rather than the last.
